Burashi Handpainted Chawan Cups

These artisan crafted Japanese cups are of the style once used for soba but now commonly used for tea (chawan). The popular hand painted stripes are an ode to 'vintage' Japanese fabric styles.

The slightly taller cup, in blue and hazel is coated in a glossy crackle glaze, making it both unique to look at and smooth to the touch. The shorter cup in blue upon grey, highlights the textural nature of the clay. Both cups feature a dollop of 'cream' colour at their bottom.

Beautiful to drink from, they could also be used for spirits, sake or even wine... that is if tea ain't your cuppa!.
