Translating as 'chic' this vintage silk Kimono luxuriously shimmers in slightly metallic, dusky purplish-pink with snappy brush marks of turquoise and deep purple. The top half of the silk lining is vibrant red and the bottom half is hot pink. It's totally fabulous inside and out! The colour in the main shot is the most accurate.
Make a statement by wearing as a long jacket to a fancy meal, an exhibition or event. Or simply wear it as a robe lounge indulgently around the house like the empress that you are !
This gorgeous article has clearly been well loved by the owner. There are only very slight age spots on the lining but some exposed stitch marks on the front panels (where the obi sash has been positioned) and where protective stitching has been removed on front panels. There are a couple of very small, character-giving, hand-stitched repairs on the lining near the neck and under the arm. In fact we love the lining so much on this Kimono that we'd consider wearing it inside out - take a look at the pics!
Note - Please Read before purchase:
Kimonos are generally made, for wearing traditionally tied with an Obi sash, on smaller framed, not too tall bodies - however if worn as an open jacket there is generally enough room in the sleeve area and in length to be worn by several sizes larger and taller than originally intended. However there is no guarantee it will sit perfectly on your body shape. Let's call it freestyle!
As we take every measure to ensure you are advised of the correct sizing prior to purchase and of any imperfections - we ask you to please be aware that we don't refund for garments chosen in error. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any queries before purchase.
All vintage and antique kimono and haori were hand made. Therefore you may see some loose, temporary stitches around edges of sleeves, hems and collars on our kimonos. These stitches, called shitsuke ito, are kept in place to assist the valuable kimono in retaining its shape and alignment. In Japan the stitches are normally removed before wearing then restitched again after cleaning and before storage, for the same reasons as above. We like the look of authenticity they bring so feel free to retain them if you like, or remove them before wearing.
